Recently, Google announced an important change to pool storage for Google Workspace Starter accounts. Starting from May 15, 2023, new subscribers will have access to pool storage pool storage for Google Workspace Starter accounts, previously only provided to Business Standard plan users. This means if an organization signs up five users in the Business Starter plan, that organization will have 150GB of pooled storage capacity, instead of 30GB previously for each user. Existing Starter plan customers will see this change applied gradually from May 22.
Pool Storage is now available for Google Workspace Business Starter Plan
With this new pooled structure, there will be no default storage limit. If administrators do not set a storage limit for individual users, they will have access to pool storage, with each user adding 30GB of additional storage to the organization's storage pool. If an administrator sets a storage limit for a user and the user reaches their storage limit, they will be notified to contact their administrator to increase storage capacity. However, there is no option for automatic notification to the administrator level. It is worth noting that after pool storage is applied to all Starter users, existing users will inherit the storage limit settings on their account (if any). If not, administrators will need to set limits for their users.
